Over the past several years the programming language called Ruby has been propelled into the mainstream of the software development landscape largely due to the creation of the Ruby on Rails framework.  InfoEther was formed to specifically leverage Ruby’s power to build sophisticated software solutions for commercial applications.

InfoEther successfully applied Ruby and XMPP/Jabber to build a distributed testing framework for a massively parallel multi-agent system.

Rich Kilmer and Chad Fowler part of team that found and manage the Ruby non-profit responsible for Ruby and Rails Conferences and project site RubyForge.

Developing Ruby desktop consumer application integrating people’s social graph using peer-to-peer technology, advanced privacy, data portability, syndication and synchronization.

Providing “Tiger Team” approach to organizations needed advanced Ruby and Rails expertise.  Specializes in software applications for
Venture-funded start-ups.

Leveraging the Power of Ruby and Rails

We develop software for our clients with a “Tiger Team” approach.  Many of our clients are looking to build new systems and many more are looking to transition existing systems or subsystems capability to Ruby on Rails but lack internal expertise with the Rails framework.  Our approach allows us to provide everything from code review, private training (through The Pragmatic Studio) and “Best Practices” to writing the code and developing the applications.

We employ an agile and iterative process to our projects; always maintaining tight communications with key stakeholders.  Once the project is nearing a completion milestone, we work to transition the system to the client’s internal team.

Our “tiger team” approach allows clients to receive the most for their investment, benefit quickly from Ruby and Rails flexibility and develop lasting capability going forward by leveraging Ruby and Rails for future projects.

Our Software Consulting Practice

We are developing a Ruby desktop consumer application called indi.

This product integrates all aspects of a person’s social graph to reveal your most relevant connections from your email, social networks, instant messaging, micro-blogging, address books, etc.  What is different is that this is accomplished “on the edge”, using peer communication technology and not by capturing and retaining your data on the Web (“in the center/cloud”) which thus offers advanced privacy and control.

Please monitor our blog and this site for more information.  We expect a new version of the beta version of indi to be available in Spring 2008.
